�鶹ӳ�� has been the recipient of more than $100,000 in Home Depot Retool Your School grant funds. The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is looking to continue its winning streak by placing in the top five once again during this year’s Retool Your School contest.

The contest begins Monday, Feb. 26, and is expected to support 30 campuses with grants ranging from $40,000 to $150,000 per school. This is the 15th year that the Home Depot has offered the contest to HBCUs to offer much-needed financial support to often underfunded colleges and universities.

�鶹ӳ�� students, like students around the country, benefit from the federal TRiO Student Support Services Program. The program provides various services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including low-income students and students with disabilities, as well as first-generation college students.

The �鶹ӳ�� Debate Team recently participated in the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) annual debate tournament at the North Carolina Legislative Complex in Raleigh.

The team was presented with 10 unprecedented cases based on legal issues currently in litigation over the ethical issues of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity liabilities and responsibilities. Some of these issues included AI in art and entertainment, digital deep fakes and avatars, security liabilities in Big Tech and more.��

The first football meeting of two Historically Black Colleges (HBCUs) was held on December 27, 1892, between Livingstone College (LC) and �鶹ӳ�� (�鶹ӳ��), which was known then as Biddle College. Almost 132 years later, the rivalry between these two institutions remains formidable to this day. �鶹ӳ�� won the first HBCU football game in 1892.

To continue this rival legacy, the Esports Clubs at both �鶹ӳ�� and LC, will converge on the electronic gridiron in the inaugural �鶹ӳ�� Esports Commemorative Classic on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024.

Food, Language, History: It was a celebration of Afro Latino history and culture on the campus of Johnson College Smith University, February 2024. The City of Charlotte, Fiestas Patrias and �鶹ӳ�� sponsored the event to commemorate Black History Month in the Latino and Black communities.

It is an experience you may remember forever. The �鶹ӳ�� community came out to honor military heroes as the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit rolled through campus on the afternoon of Feb. 9, 2024.

Edgar Ruth, founder and president of Environmental Service Systems, LLC, said that donating $15,000 to the �鶹ӳ�� College of Business and Professional Studies was a “no brainer.”

“The photographer must be sympathetic to the object of the lens,”��legendary New York Times photojournalist Chester Higgins Jr. says he strives to re-educate the world about the cultural contributions of Black people, from the Americas to Africa.��

Dr. Denisha Hendricks is returning to �鶹ӳ�� as the new Director of Athletics (AD) and as Visiting Associate Professor of Sport Management (non-tenure-track). Her appointment is effective May 1, 2024.
