On Saturday, April 27, Esports and Gaming faculty and staff welcomed up to 30 middle and high school students from near and far, from the Charlotte Metro area to Greensboro, N.C. Dr. Terza Lima-Neves, professor of Political Science and chair of the Department of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, collaborated with Melissa Gonzalez, a professor at Davison College, to bring authentic connections back to college campuses through the Talk to Me Nice event.

Thiam Talks Importance of Women in Africa’s Climate Crisis at United Nations Forum

​For years, scientists everywhere have warned of the disastrous impacts of climate change on the Earth.

Despite several calls to action, many nations have done little to address the issue. Dr. Thierno Thiam, provost and Chief Academic Officer at ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ was invited to speak on an underrepresented people who are facing the brunt of the climate change crisis: women in Africa.

The Class of 2024, donned in their ceremonial commencement robes, took one of their final walks from Biddle Hall to the Jane M. Smith Memorial Church for the annual Founders’ Day Convocation.

This year celebrates the 157th anniversary of ΒιΆΉΣ³»­β€™s founding on April 7, 1867. Surrounded by faculty, staff, alumni and friends, the soon-to-be graduates listened attentively to ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ alumnus Garry L. McFadden ’81, the sheriff for Mecklenburg County, as he recounted some of the successes from his career.

Growing Tensions in Israel-Palestine Spark Conversations During Charlotte Black Jewish Alliance’s Deep South Pilgrimage

For the past three years, two ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ professors have embarked on a Spring Break trip to Jewish Temples and historic sites of the Civil Rights Movement with a group of diverse Charlotteans. The event is called the Deep South Pilgrimage and is a trip planned by the Charlotte Black Jewish Alliance (CBJA).Μύ

This year, the ongoing conflict in Israel-Palestine sparked conversations during the trip that the professors say will offer a unique opportunity to bridge gaps through open and honest communication.

Portrait of a Queen: Charlotte Symphony Orchestra + ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Concert Choir

Inauguration Week kicked off with a joint concert titled β€œPortrait of a Queen,” featuring the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Concert Choir, ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Drumline and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. This year was the second consecutive year of this partnership. More than 400 tickets were issued for this event, held inside the Jack S. Brayboy Gymnasium, April 2, 2024.
